Nexus is a community-led project with a common vision of a world inspired by innovative and responsible values, expansive technology, and the fundamental quality of ubiquitous connection, free and available to all. Nexus has been retired since September 23, 2014 with no ICO or premining. The platform is designed and engineered to make life easier, empower communities, and streamline business. The release of the Tritium protocol in late 2019 marked the beginning of the TAO Framework era, the first of three major architecture updates (Tritium, Amine, and & obsidian). Nexus is a seven-tier software stack that powers a record-based process virtual machine, serving as a powerful DApp and contracting platform that creates value across many industries. Development can be accessed through a number of industry-specific JSON-based APIs, including but not limited to: encrypted communication, digital identifiers, supply chain, asset management, cryptography & tokenization. Nexus uses post-quantum signature schemes (FALCON) and automated key management features through a technology called "Signature Chains". This technology eliminates key (wallet.dat) management issues by allowing users to log into their accounts with the familiarity of username, password, and PIN. Additional technology developed by Nexus includes a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) for government, Safenet, a hacker-resistant operating system, a decentralized satellite and amplifier; mesh network, all connected through a multi-dimensional chaining structure using sharding, low-latency transaction intent, and truly decentralized multi-layer consensus.
