MovieBloc, co-founded by Chris Kang, Jeffrey Jin, and Peter Kim, is a reverse ICO project run by Korean video streaming platform Pandora.tv. MovieBloc is a decentralized platform for the distribution of movies and content. Mission and VisionMovieBloc VisionMovieBloc's mission is to solve the problems caused by the domination of the home entertainment and movie industry by conglomerates with its blockchain technology. Creators will get transparent revenue sharing, audience data, and equal screening opportunities; viewers will have access to a variety of movies and content and will be rewarded for providing the community with curated, subtitled and marketing material. Currently more than 100 films and fiction films have been screened. In the long term, MovieBloc aims to create the largest participant-centric cinema ecosystem. In February 2020, MovieBloc took over "Cobak", a cryptocurrency community service in Korea and a mobile service that provides a cryptocurrency wallet, real-time community, and ticker, news, airdrop, and token sale services. In March 2020, MovieBloc founded MBL Media, an IP content development company. It will deal with intellectual property development, production and copyright management with a focus on animation and film content as its core business. Ahn Hong-ju, one of MovieBloc's consultants, has been appointed CEO of MBL Media. The DateMovieBloc release project was released on May 5, 2019 with the listing on Gate.io. Since then, MovieBloc has been listed on various exchanges like Binance, Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, Indodax, and MXC within a year. The official service was launched on December 31, 2019. The MovieBloc platform recently moved to the Ontology core network. The use of the MBL token, a MovieBloc token, is used for economic activity in the ecosystem: - Users watching premium content (TVOD) - Creators who pay translators - Users who donate to other participants (creators, translators) - Reward users (report illegal content, movie rating, movie review).
